Tabi woke up with a beam of sunlight warming her face and a strong arm draped over her waist. Her first thought was that it was Duncan, but as her sleep-addled brain started working again she remembered him kissing her good night and tucking her into bed just a few hours before dawn. If Duncan was asleep in his quarters that meant that she was currently sharing her bed with—

“Good morning, mouse.” Jared’s soft drawl interrupted her musings. “Sleep well?”

“I did. So well I didn’t notice when you snuck into bed with me. Is it really still morning?”

“Just barely. It’s almost noon. Duncan said you went to bed around four, so I thought it was time you were up and around.” Jared nuzzled at her hair, his breath warming the back of her neck.

“Is this how you wake up all your houseguests?” Tabi teased.

“You’re not a guest anymore. Duncan told me you’ve agreed to live here,” Jared pointed out, his large hand moving up her body to cup a breast through the cotton T-shirt she’d opted to wear to bed. She wasn’t sure which one of them it belonged to, and she didn’t care. She just liked wearing their things.

“For the record, you’re the only woman I’ve woken up this way since I joined up with Duncan, guest or otherwise. I’m hoping you’re going to be the only one I wake up this way for a long time to come, too.”

“No one else? How’s that possible? You’re gorgeous! Surely there’ve been women in your life?”

“Not many, and not for very long. Can you see me dating? I’d have to lie, and that’s no way to start a relationship. Not to mention that guarding Duncan is more than just my job, it’s a lifetime commitment. It was easier to stay single and avoid the heartache.”

Tabi snuggled herself tightly against Jared’s side and turned her head to give him a sleepy smile as she observed, “You’ve both been lonely.”

“We were. But we’re not going to be anymore, because we found you.” His thumb teased over her nipple as he placed a slow, tender trail of open-mouthed kisses down Tabi’s neck.

She felt her pussy react with an instant flood of moisture, but she forced herself to stay in control, at least for now. There was something she needed to say first. “I slept with Duncan last night,” she blurted out and then winced, wishing she could call a do-over.

“I know. He told me. He said you were incredible, and he regrets every second he spent talking himself out of being with you.” Jared rubbed his rock-hard cock against the curve of her hip as he made it clear that Duncan’s news hadn’t affected his interest at all. “I’d like to find out for myself.” Jared’s breath caressed her cheek as he leaned over her. “Let me make love to you, Tabi.”

“Yes please,” she whispered, reaching back to touch him at last and discovering nothing but naked, muscular flesh beneath her hand.

Jared’s rich laugh filled her ear as he toyed with her breast.
